AB & David Institutes Law Students Scholarship Scheme
AB & David, a business law firm in Accra, has instituted a ¢24 million scholarship scheme for four students of the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon and the Ghana Law School. Two students from each of the two institutions would benefit from the scholarship.

Presenting the Faculty of Law’s component of a cheque for ¢12 million to Professor Nii Ashie Kotey, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana, Mr. David Ofosu-Dorte, Chief Executive Officer of the law firm, said they were aware of some brilliant students who were confronted with financial difficulties that impeded their chances of fulfilling their professional aspirations.

He said the firm was touched to make the donation, which he described as a “token” to assist brilliant needy students studying law at the two law institutions in the country, adding that it was part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility. He was optimistic that in the years to come, the fund would be expanded from within the firm and outside it, to support this good cause.

Receiving the cheque, Professor Nii Ashie Kotey thanked the benefactors for their support to promote the study of law in the country, and said the scholarship scheme came at the right time to support the students.
“Donations such as yours would go a long way to bring up legal professionals who, otherwise, would have had financial difficulties in completing their courses”, he observed. He urged other corporate organizations to emulate the example of the company.
